World Communion Sunday – celebrated every
year on the first Sunday in October – is
a very special day at Madison Square. The day has
taken on
new relevancy and depth of meaning in a world where globalization often has undermined
peace and justice – and in a time when fear divides the
peoples of God's earth. On this day we celebrate our oneness in Christ,
the Prince of Peace, in the midst of the world we are called to serve – a
world
ever more in need of peacemaking.
The children and youth will help lead this service.
Special breads and juices from around the world
will be used in communion and we will sing and
hear stories from around the world. Also on this
Sunday we will collect the Peacemaking Offering,
a special offering received to support peacemaking
initiatives and peace education throughout the church. 25 percent of the Offering
received will be given to a local group working for peace, 25 percent will
be given to the presbytery and synod (our regional governing bodies), and 50
percent be used by the national church.

Bring your pets for a blessing!
Young and old are invited to bring their dogs,
cats, birds, lizards, rabbits, potbellied pigs,
fish, tortoises and turtles and other well behaved
pets.
On October 27 from 6:30 –- 9:30 we would
like to have Family Art Night. We would love
for some of the artists and artisans in our VERY
talented church to design a small project in their
medium that can be done by a family or by children
with a parent’s assistance in a 15 minute
or so time frame. If you would like to help
us with this or if you have questions (or answers,
we can always use answers) please contact:
Pastor Kenny: KennyD@msqpc.org or
226-6254
Or Ms. Linda: LMCharlton@aol.com
Thanks!!
Greetings from the children’s center:
The children center has kicked off to a great
start this school year. We are full in all
our classrooms. Thank God for our waiting
list, that helped fill many of our
vacancies once children left for school in August. We also did our transitions
to the next classroom which brought in many new students.
We are still getting to know all our new families. Having
a great partnership with our families is very important. Some
of our new families attend Madison Square church. It’s
exciting to know that not only do they worship
at MSPC but they also attend the children’s
center.
Thanks to all our families, past and present that
continues to share news of our great program with
friends and families. Our waiting list continues
to grow because of this networking.
Beautiful Junk items needed:
Empty soda bottles (20 oz or smaller)
Play clothes, costume jewelry, hats, shoes
Formula containers, plastic containers (small
to medium) yarn, scrap material, collage items,
empty food containers (for home center) etc….
Thank you for your continued prayers, God is listening!!!

Help
Make the World a Better Place in just 21 Days
Dear friends, our government is bringing over
20 Afghani students for one month, 10/20 to 11/21,
to expose them to the hospitality and heart of
America.
This is the LINC program, “Linking individuals, knowledge and cultures”
I am looking for host families for these high
school students. As a host family, you would
be asked to provide a bed for your student, provide
3 meals a day, and help ensure your student takes
part in all scheduled activities. We are
hoping host families can provide carpool one day
a week each of those 4 weeks. Let me know
if you’d be interested in this experience.
Thanks! Rebecca

Name a great fund-raising goal and chances are
it's among hundreds that these organizations are
already funding by collecting all types of clean,
dry paper from their community. Abitibi-Consolidated
Recycling Division provides this program and collection
service at no charge to each location. Bright green
and yellow containers - called Abitibi Paper Retrievers® -
are placed in highly visible, convenient areas
where residents can drop off their newspaper, magazines,
shopping catalogs and mail. Usually, the majority
of the paper is received from the surrounding neighborhoods.
Even areas that already provide curbside recycling
are successful in raising money by providing a
convenient place to drop off paper when families
know that your organization will benefit from their
donation.
We need all your: newspapers, magazines, shopping
catalogs, office & school papers, mail
Please do not include: plastic, glass, metals,
trash
The Retriever is located in the parking lot next
to storage shed.
