Greetings from the children’s center:
Another new year is just around the corner and we have so much to be thankful for. We have been blessed with a full enrollment all year long. We still have children waiting to join our program. We have many wonderful parents that continue to share our program with friends and families.
Baby News!!
Some of our staff members have been blessed this year with little ones:
Marisa Salas – Baby Marcos - 3/7/07
Jhirnai Crawford - Baby Kayla - 10/10/07
Cynthia Ledesma - Baby Elena - 10/29/07
Rosalie Blanco - Baby George - 11/13/07
20th Anniversary 12 / 1987 - 12 / 2007
I want to thank the church for giving me the opportunity to serve the children’s center these last 20 years. I thank God for Carolyn Dillon who was the director that hired me over the phone in 1987, and Reverend Lytle who was the Pastor of the church. Both of them were wonderful mentors that helped me grow in the field. Since then I have met and worked with many other church members – Ilene Dunn our present Pastor, Mr. Moses, Mrs. Nance and all the Board Members of the children’s center past and present – everyone has a special place in my heart. Some are still here and others have gone but the wonderful memories will always be with me.
Thank you for your continued prayers.

Adult Christian Education - new class begins Feb. 3
NEW ADULT EDUCATION SERIES:
“PROFESSORS TALK ABOUT RELIGION”
People sometimes assume that it is only scholars in the field of religious studies who—in their role as scholars—deal with religious experience, belief, and/or practice. This, however, is not the case. Scholars in a number of different academic disciplines—including the arts, the humanities, the social and behavioral sciences, and, in a somewhat different way, the natural sciences and perhaps even mathematics—encounter and must somehow deal with religion as a significant aspect of human experience and activity.
On February 3rd, the Sunday morning adult class will begin a new series entitled “PROFESSORS TALK ABOUT Religion.” The series will feature scholars from local colleges and universities, each representing a different academic discipline. These disciplines may include philosophy, literature, history, sociology, political science, economics, psychology, biology, geology, chemistry, and/or physics. Topics for the individual sessions will be “A Philosophy Professor Talks about Religion,” “A Physics Professor Talks about Religion,” etc., etc. The speakers will discuss how they—as scholars—deal with various aspects of religion and/or how perspectives from their own particular academic disciplines might shed light on the nature of religion and its role in human life. If they wish, they may also talk about how, if at all, their scholarship affects their own religious orientation or lack thereof. Following each presentation, there will be ample time for questions and discussion.
The series will allow members of the class to compare and contrast a variety of scholarly perspectives on religion. In addition, it is intended to stimulate and provide resources for those who wish to enrich and articulate their own understanding of the nature of religion and its role in human life, both personal and social.
